BLOBBERNAUT is a heavy musical adventure through the eyes of new dads.
In 2021, BLOBBERNAUT pushed out its first single “Dear Inspiration” and began rocking little booties off ever since.
Their debut EP, Firstborn, serves as an homage to a wide range of rock and metal the group grew up listening to (from hair metal to death metal), while exploring themes such as breastfeeding, sleep deprivation, and babies’ nightmares.
The creative partnership of Dr. Danny Mann (vocals/guitar/bass) and Sean Elston (drums/mixing/mastering) began in 2006 with the unbridled energy of JOUST. After a short but successful run, the two matured their sound forming SORIZON, releasing several progressive metal albums before going on hiatus in 2023.
Throughout their musical journey together, life went on as they met their future wives, got married, and had children. BLOBBERNAUT’s Firstborn encapsulates the experiences of a different world for the pair, one of new responsibilities, feeding times, and diaper duties.
The new single and EP title track “Firstborn” enlists family friends Melody Schoenfeld (SD17, Ed Force One; lead vocals), Balmore Lemus (Novareign; guitar solo) Justin Schulze (The Even Order; synth) and Dr. Johnny Lui (DRJLULZ; co-lyricist). Uncles Justin and Johnny contributed to several tracks on the EP. “Firstborn” celebrates the power that babies hold before even uttering a single word. The Queen herself blessed the track with a guest babble as well!
BLOBBERNAUT donates profits from merch and music to children’s health organizations (e.g. UNICEF and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital).
